Feather Lei Workshops, Tokyo, Japan
This trip to Tokyo was special. I was asked go to Japan to teach the are of feather lei making to some of the halau's. I was in Tokyo for about 9 days. The participants were eager to learn and great fun to teach. I had a good friend of mine, hirotaka Imai, go with me to each workshop to translate for me. He was a great help to me and, Hirotaka learned to make a feather lei too! Hiro and his family hosted me during my stay in Japan. I want to say a big ARIGATO to the Imai family for making me feel so comfortable and welcome in their home. There were many students and many hands going in many different directions! It was great fun! Many students did well and many students with many questions. Some leis were cut to start over, some were repaired before cutting, then there were others that made sure to watch and listen very carefully before starting. They didn't want to get "CUT"! I look forward to my next trip to Japan as I am taking sign ups for workshops now. These workshops will be scheduled in the Summer of 2003. Happy Holidays!
