the Temminck's Tragopan Pheasant. The Temminck's Tragopan are highly ornamental and a highly sought after pheasants. They're habitat is in the eastern Himalayan mountains from 8-14 thousand feet in elevation during the summer, then they come down to six thousand feet in elevation in the winter. Statistics in the wild is believed to be less than 20 thousand remaining. This pheasant is uncommon in aviaries around the country because of the difficulty in reproducing it's common habitat. This pheasant is considered near endangered in it's own natural habitat due to forest devastation. |
